VPK / PreK Schedules 2019-2020
Free VPK Program at First Discoveries
Eligible children can receive a VPK Certificate from the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County. This certificate provides for tuition funding which families can use either during the school year, or during the summer before they enter kindergarten. We offer several VPK schedules: a fall session, a spring session or a summer camp.
Our Free VPK program includes all of the rich learning experiences that families expect from First Discoveries, with lots of hands-on learning, play based activities, teacher-guided explorations and time to explore our outdoor classroom.
Other VPK & PreKindergarten Schedules
Families can also choose to use their VPK certificates for one of our extended day, full school year PreKindergarten programs. Our full school year programs allow children to attend school from August through May. With the VPK certificate, families receive a savings off our regular tuition, and children benefit from having rich learning experiences all year long. The schedule options are listed below, and we will provide month tuition prices during your tour.
FAQ for VPK and PreKindergarten
Your program starts at 7:00 am. Does my child have to be at school that early?
We open at 7:00 am, and all of our programs include early drop off. Children who arrive early have opportunities to work and play either in the classroom or on the playground. We do recommend that all children arrive by 8:15 am, as our circle time starts at 8:30. If your child has an appointment and needs to arrive after 8:15, please make arrangements with the school in advance.
Are there fees for the VPK program?
The VPK Certificate covers the full cost of our Free VPK Program, and registration fees are waived. Our Extended day and full year PreKindergarten programs do have monthly tuition and registration fees. We will give you a copy of the fees during your tour.
Does my child need to attend school every day?
Our VPK and PreKindergarten programs provide opportunities every day for children to work, play and learn. To benefit from the program, children do need to attend school regularly. Obviously, children will occasionally miss school due to illness or for other reasons. During our orientation, we will review the school attendance policy.
